The Originals Present: The Holdup by Marsha Norman – MAINE ART SCENE MAGAZINE
(Bar Mills, ME) The originals play The Holdup, a play by Marsha Norman. In 1914, in a remote cabin on the New Mexico prairie, two brothers, Archie (Gerald Davis) and Henry (Josh Cuff) await the return of the rest of their team of wheat-threshers, who went into town on a Saturday evening to spend their wages for the week. Instead, they are held back by The Outlaw (Dana Packard), an aging gunslinger who arrives for a date with the love of his life, Lily (Jennifer Porter), a former dancer who now owns the largest hotel in town – and whom the outlaw hasn’t seen in twenty years. Soon, the brothers are drawn into the high-stakes world of the Wild West. This inventive caper mixes humor and moments of startling theatrics as it unfolds its rowdy tale of a worn-out desperado knocked down by changing times and the invention of the automobile.
