The McLaren Artura is the direct descendant of a highly respected line of gas-electric power. In 2012, the McLaren P1 shook up the hypercar landscape with its 916hp hybrid engine brimming with Formula 1 technology. iconic McLaren F1. The Speedtail used its electrified powertrain and aerodynamic shape to reach a top speed of over 250 mph.

The Artura is the next natural progression of this dynasty, taking the knowledge gained from its ancestors and resulting in a supercar that is as mature as it is exciting.

The new V6 engine is compact, light and efficient, while producing 577 hp. This engine is both 110 pounds lighter and 7.4 inches shorter than the McLaren V8 engine. It’s even more impressive when you discover that McLaren was also able to add an eighth gear as well as its first electronically controlled differential.

These reduced dimensions allowed the engine to be mounted lower in the frame, vitally lowering the center of gravity. The punchy engine’s 120° V design allowed for a short and stiff crankshaft, allowing the engine to rev up to 8,500rpm and producing the intensity one would expect from a McLaren supercar.

With the petrol engine working in tandem with the 94hp electric motor, the Artura has a total combined output of over 671hp. The inclusion of an electric motor gives the car instant access to torque, accelerating the car with noticeably quicker throttle response than McLaren’s pure petrol cars. In addition to unparalleled performance, behind the wheel of a McLaren Artura, you will have access to a multitude of controls. Those who like to slide through the turns will take immense pleasure in experimenting with Variable Drift Control (VDC). This makes it possible to fine-tune the level of traction control assistance and thereby the level of oversteer using an intuitive slider on the center console.

The Artura’s ride feel can be quickly changed on the go with a simple toggle switch. Comfort, Sport and Track powertrain options help you decide exactly how you want to use the electric motor.

Comfort means the V6 petrol engine will work in tandem with the electric motor for maximum fuel efficiency. Sport mode allows the electric motor to provide additional low-end torque, making the car more responsive while the V6 focuses on maximum performance. Track mode uses the same mix of electric motor and V6, but also uses transmission software to deliver faster gear changes.

Along with all of these controls at your fingertips, McLaren has also added state-of-the-art proactive damping control. This can detect road conditions using sensors located throughout the Artura and automatically make changes, without you even having to lift a finger.
