Harry Styles goes from idol to fashion icon | Partner Content: Arts, Films and TV
Harry Styles will never just be a singer-songwriter, he’s now an actor and a fashion powerhouse.
The former member of British pop boy band ‘One Direction’ has changed hands from a musician to the male lead alongside Oscar-nominated Florence Pugh in the highly anticipated dystopian thriller ‘Don’t Worry Darling,’ directed by Olivia Wilde.
The film had its animated world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on Monday, taking the internet and the world by storm with behind-the-scenes controversies and above all, fashion.
The styles arrived on the Venice carpet dripping in a navy Gucci suit with bold, broad shoulders and a very pointed collar, Sarah Karmali, editor (digital) at Harper’s Bazaar, described to The Associated Press.
Laura Jordan, director of fashion and lifestyle articles at Grazia magazine, said Styles’ partnership with her stylist Harry Lambert has created “absolute magic.”
“(Styles’ fashion) has always had this kind of retro vibe. He loves the big collar, the dyed hues, lots and lots of Gucci,” Jordan said.
In 2018, Styles began building his personal style and brand by becoming one of the ambassadors for Italian fashion house Gucci. Styles has worn the brand in several editorial campaigns, but the dress he wore for Vogue’s November 2020 cover was more notable. The musician-actor was the fashion magazine’s first solo male star.
The much talked about cover featured Styles in an open green field under a clear sky and wearing the blue dress designed by Gucci by Alessandro Michele which was lined with black lace for a touch of contrast, several tiers of ruffles and to top it all off. – a classic black blazer.
Since transitioning from boy band member to solo artist with multiple hit albums, he’s become synonymous with a flamboyant signature look – a colorful array of ’70s-inspired oversized suits and three-piece jumpsuits with side tabs. flared elephant and an occasional feather boa. , mimicking the likes of Elton John.
Every outfit on her “Love On Tour 2022,” which currently includes an impressive 15-day residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden, triggers a pattern — literally.
Exclusively dressed in Gucci every night, Styles wore a two-piece jumpsuit in different patterns ranging from stripes to polka dots, all in different colors like bright hues of red, pink, blue and yellow.
If there’s one takeaway from the evolution of Styles’ personal wardrobe, it’s that it’s personal, eclectic, and above all, fun.
“Harry Styles knows exactly who Harry Styles is,” Jordan said.
